Soul, Jazz, Funk
In the realm of dynamic audio experiences,
Carlos Washington and the Amazing Giant
People Ensemble combine exciting
elements for the ears with explosive dance
floor concepts.
The leader of this sonic exhibition is, of
course, Carlos Washington. Born in
Harrisburg PA, Carlos would initially be
exposed to music through singing in the
church choir and experimenting with piano.
A few years later, he would develop a
passion for the trumpet. Focused
interaction with school bands, orchestras, private lessons and intimate exposure to jazz legends,
would make Carlos a winner of many performance competitions and prepare him to become one
of the most sensational trumpeters since the great Miles Davis.
At 18, Washington set out for the west coast after enlisting in the United States Marine Corps Band,
one of the oldest and most distinguished music organizations in the world. After four years, Sgt.
Washington was honorably discharged and became a resident of San Diego. Word quickly spread
in the creative community about the young trumpeter’s professionalism and vivid blue tone.
Carlos Malcolm, principle originator of modern Jamaican music and score composer for the James
Bond 007 film Dr. No, was the first to employ the highly developed talents of the young brass prince.
Next, Karl Denson original sax man for Lenny Kravitz and west cost soul jazz superstar was in need of
a trumpet player. Young Carlos would win the audition and forge a legendary partnership that
captured the attention of live music fans all over the country. Following this brilliant 2 year
campaign with Denson, Carlos would venture out and partner with New Century Soul Records to
create the Amazing Giant People Ensemble.
By January 2001, Washington was set to make his debut as a solo artist and band leader of his own
national touring ensemble. In the two years that followed, he would produce and sell-out of two
well received recordings, perform over 300 live shows from Jackson Hole to Jamaica, and create a
strong, loyal national following. The band configuration alternates, but one thing is for certain, Giant
People are on a mission to ignite the late night and change your life.
