Indie Gospel Super Group
Far from behind the scene of the major music
industry, bassist, composer, and producer, Greg
McKinney, brings a uniquely diverse expression to
the forefront with the Kingdom Players.
The Kingdom Players philosophy is that if Christ were
a musician today, he would be funky and play
everywhere. The Kingdom Players seek to bring the
power of the Creator out of the church and into all
places, using every funky tool to build the message
of freedom and love for all.
For years the church and the blues have struggled
to find common ground, Greg McKinney is that
common ground. Greg’s foundation in music
began in the church, but his soulful vibe extends
into R&B, Jazz, Funk, and even Rock. McKinneys’
talent bridges the gap between the church and
modern secular music styles. His artistry as a
songwriter has been requested from companies like
Toyota, Coke, and Pontiac. Greg continues the
legacy of the American music masters.
Greg McKinney’s Kingdom Players include:
- Tina Wilson’s style has definite jazz overtones, but her versatility as a vocalist allow her to
sing a traditional hymn with the conviction that will bring you to your feet. She currently
hosts the Gospel Sunday Brunch at the House of Blues San Diego.
- Ken Turner adds a smooth sultry twist to Contemporary Gospel Music. He has shared the
stage with Kirk Franklin, Tonex and Karen Clark-Sheard.
- Norma Handy’s traditional style is a wave of inspiration, emotion and spirit which she
delivers with reverence, power and conviction. Sister Handy is also a relative of the great
WC Handy, father of the St. Louis Blues.
